Pop-up garden open house in Red Hook
WHAT: Pop-up garden open house WHEN: Friday, May 17, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m WHERE: Blithewood Garden, 75 Blithewood Ave., Red Hook
DETAILS: Visitors are invited to explore the grounds and ask questions about their own gardens. There will also be activities geared for children. The event is free and no reservations are required. Visitors can also take a historical audio-intrepretive tour by dialing (845) 752-2593. The event is presented by Bard Arboretum.

FDR site schedules Memorial Day Weekend events
WHAT: Memorial Day events WHEN: Friday through Monday, May 24 through May 27
WHERE: Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library & Museum, 4079 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park
DETAILS: Events will include the library’s new special exhibition, “D-Day: FDR and Churchill,” which runs through Jan. 6. There will be a USO Show May 24 at 7 p.m., with pre-registration required at www.fdrlibrary. org. An author book signing with Nigel Hamilton, author of “War and Peace, FDR’s Final Odyssey: D-Day to Yalta, 1943-1945” on May, 25 at 4 p.m. A D-Day leadership lecture will take place May 26 at 2 p.m. A World War II encampment and military displays featuring WWII reenactors will take place May 25 and 26. A Field of Honor Flag Display will take place May 25 through 27 and a Rose Garden Memorial Service in the FDR Home Rose Garden will be May 27 at 1:30 p.m.
