Pop-up garden open house in Red Hook

WHAT: Pop-up garden open house WHEN: Friday, May 17, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m WHERE: Blithewood Garden, 75 Blithewood Ave., Red Hook

DETAILS: Visitors are invited to explore the grounds and ask questions about their own gardens. There will also be activities geared for children. The event is free and no reservatio­ns are required. Visitors can also take a historical audio-intrepreti­ve tour by dialing (845) 752-2593. The event is presented by Bard Arboretum.

FDR site schedules Memorial Day Weekend events

WHAT: Memorial Day events WHEN: Friday through Monday, May 24 through May 27

WHERE: Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidenti­al Library & Museum, 4079 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park

DETAILS: Events will include the library’s new special exhibition, “D-Day: FDR and Churchill,” which runs through Jan. 6. There will be a USO Show May 24 at 7 p.m., with pre-registrati­on required at www.fdrlibrary. org. An author book signing with Nigel Hamilton, author of “War and Peace, FDR’s Final Odyssey: D-Day to Yalta, 1943-1945” on May, 25 at 4 p.m. A D-Day leadership lecture will take place May 26 at 2 p.m. A World War II encampment and military displays featuring WWII reenactors will take place May 25 and 26. A Field of Honor Flag Display will take place May 25 through 27 and a Rose Garden Memorial Service in the FDR Home Rose Garden will be May 27 at 1:30 p.m.
