• Criminal sex act: Mark L. Dupre, 41, of Pine Lane, Saugerties, was arrested by Saugerties police detectives at 5 p.m. Monday, May 13, in the village and charged with criminal sex act, a felony, in connection with an incident alleged to have happened Sunday, May 5. Dupre was released from the Ulster County Jail

on Monday after posting $1,000 bail. Further information was unavailable.

• Obstruction of breathing: Kirk McElrath, 51, of Simmons Street, was arrested by Saugerties police in the village at 11:12 p.m. Monday, May 13, and was charged with obstruction of breathing and attempted assault, both misdemeanors, and with harassment, a violation. McElrath allegedly grabbed a female victim by her neck, began choking her, and then threw her into a wall, which her head struck with enough force to break the sheetrock. The victim was treated at the scene by Diaz Ambulance paramedics. McElrath was released with an appearance ticket for Saugerties Village Court; an order of protection was issued on behalf of victim.
