Boat-building challenge practice session June 1
The Hudson River Maritime Museum on East Strand plans a “practice build” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at its Wooden Boat School for entrants in the National Boat Building Challenge.
Participants can learn tips from Tom Russell, one of the fastest wooden boat builders in the country. Russell will guide competitors through each step required to build a wooden boat, focusing on safety and time-saving techniques.
All registered teams are encouraged to attend this practice session.
Anyone interested in learning about the competition or interested in competing may attend.
The museum is still seeking competitors for the National Boat Building Challenge on Saturday, June 22. The competition is a part of the museum’s Maritime Festival, featuring the Antique and Classic Boat Show and the National Boat Building Challenge.
