Albany
• DWI: John L. Chanler, 60, of Rhinebeck, was arrested by Thruway state police at 11:11 p.m. Saturday, May 18, on I-87 at the Exit 23 toll plaza and was charged with drunken driving and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level at or above 0.08 percent, both misdemeanors. He was released with tickets pending a court appearance.
Cairo
• DWI: Robert J. Backis, 27, of Purling, was arrested by state police at Greenville at 3:25 a.m. Sunday, May 19, at Woodland Drive and County Route 39 and was charged with drunken driving and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level at or above 0.08 percent, both misdemeanors. Backis was released with tickets to appear in Cairo Town Court.
Germantown
• DWI: Martin Overington, 57, of Germantown, was arrested by state police at Claverack at 6:07 p.m. Saturday, May 18, on Main Street and was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level at or above 0.08 percent with a prior conviction, a felony, and drunken driving, a misdemeanor. He was released with tickets to appear in Germantown Town Court.
Rhinebeck
• DWAI-drugs: Brian A. Shaw, 19, of Milan, was arrested by state police at Rhinebeck at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, May 19, on U.S. Route 9 and was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, and two traffic infractions. He was released with tickets to appear in Rhinebeck Town Court.
Town of Rochester
• DWI: Lauren E. Kosonen, 30, of Accord, was arrested by state police at Ulster at 10:13 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at U.S. Route 209 and Lucas Turnpike and was charged with drunken driving, aggravated drunken driving, resisting arrest, and obstruction of governmental administration, all misdemeanors, as well as refusing to take a breath test, an infraction, and three traffic infractions. Kosonen was released with tickets to appear in Rochester Town Court.
