College education isn’t for everyone

-

Dear Editor: There has been a lot of talk lately about the cost of a college education, and rightly so. However, I think that one important point has been omitted. A student may have the money to attend college, but does he/she have the ability to deal with the college curriculum?

The courses are more difficult, and there will be little or no contact with the professors. Finding out that he/she has failed after the first semester will leave a huge debt and nothing to show for it.

Then why attend college at all? Is it just to get a degree, or is it the entry to a career? Think about it. A college degree is an asset, no matter why it is obtained, but I think that a student should look at it from all sides, the beginning and the eventual end. Frances Sandiford
