SENIOR NEWS AARP driver safety class takes place July 13
Aging Mastery Program begins July 10
STONE RIDGE, N.Y. >> The Ulster County Office for the Aging is offering an Aging Mastery Program. The program will take place Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon from July 10 through Sept. 11 at the Marbletown Community Center, 3564 Main St.
The program is designed to make small but effective changes in participants’ health behaviors, financial well-being and enrichment in later life. Those who are interested are asked to make the commitment to attend all 10 classes. Limited spots are available.

LAKE KATRINE, N.Y. >> An AARP driver safety class will be offered Saturday, July 13, at the Town of Ulster Senior Center, 1 Town Hall Drive.
Sign in is at 8:30 a.m., with the class starting at 9 a.m. The class is scheduled to run six hours, but could go longer. All are welcome to attend. There are no membership or age requirements, but space is limited and preregistration is required. The cost is $25 per person, $20 for AARP members with a card.
Successful completion of the class qualifies attendees for insurance discounts and points off of driver’s licenses.

Senior groups list meeting schedules
Woodstock Senior Citizens Club will meet Wednesday, July 3, at noon at Woodstock Fire Co. No. 1, 242 Tinker St.
There will be an ice cream social.
People ages 60 and over are welcome to attend. The group has varied speakers from many organizations and social activities to help provide for a healthy social life.
PORT EWEN, N.Y. >> The Town of Esopus Seniors will meet Monday, July 1, at 1 p.m. in the Esopus Town Hall Community Center, 284 Broadway.
There will be an ice cream social, with members of Boy Scout Troop No. 26 helping to dish out the ice cream. Also at the meeting, payments will be collected for the Aug. 13 trip to Lake George. There will be sailing on the Lac du Sainte Sacrement, along with lunch, music, dancing and transportation by bus. The cost is $35 for members and $40 for non-members.
The July 17 trip to Westchester Broadway Theatre is sold out.
GERMANTOWN, N.Y. >> The Southern Tier Seniors will have their annual picnic on Wednesday, July 3, at 11 a.m. at Palatine Park, 26 Palatine Park Road.
Member are asked to bring a dessert or some kind of a salad to share. Members can attend free. There will be an $8 charge for non-members.
Non-members will be charged $8. to attend.
A representative from Columbia County Office of the Aging will be on hand to offer Farmers Market coupons to those who qualify.
On Aug. 21, the group will be celebrating its 45th anniversary at Kozel’s Restaurant, 1006 state Route 9H, Ghent. Mary-Jane will have tickets for the event at the picnic. The cost will be $23 per person.
The August meeting
will be a gathering at Clermont State Historic Park, 1Clermont Ave., Germantown. No business meeting is planned.

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. >> The Retired Men of the New Paltz Community will have their monthly breakfast meeting on Monday, July 1, at 8 a.m. at New Paltz Plaza Diner, 271 Main St.
The speaker will be Jaik Schubert, a retired educator and community resource developer with the New York State Department of Corrections & Community Supervision, and a former liaison with the U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship program. He will talk about his experience in helping to reintegrate socially exoffenders upon completion of their sentences.
