Mobile Life donates ambulance after fire

The emergency medical transport vehicle will replace one that was lost in the Tivoli Fire Department blaze.

TIVOLI, N.Y. >> Mobile Life Support Services has donated one of its ambulances to the Tivoli Fire Department to replace the one lost in a July 5 fire.

Scott Woebse, Mobile Life Support Services president and chief executive officer, presented the vehicle, along with a stretcher and stair chair, to the fire department on July 16.

“As they reel from ... [the] devastatin­g fire, the Tivoli Fire Department’s need for support from its community is clear,” Woebse said in a prepared statement. “This is a time for our local emergency services agencies to come together to assist our fellow providers.

“We hope the donation of one of our ambulances helps Tivoli recover during this challengin­g time and allows them the ability to more quickly get back to providing the emergency medical services essential to their community,” Woebse added.

The blaze at the Tivoli Fire Department, at 94 Broadway in the Northern Dutchess village, also destroyed a fire engine and various supplies and equipment, ans it left the building damaged.

Other nearby emergency service agencies in the area have been covering calls in the Tivoli Fire District, and the city of Poughkeeps­ie Fire Department has offered the us of some of its equipment, until the Tivoli department is fully back on its feet.

A GoFundMe page has been created to help the Tivoli Fire Department recover from the blaze. Its goal is $50,000. About $6,200 has been raised by 6 p.m. Monday. The page is at bit.ly/2y4QVgY.
