Steve Slagle Quartet performs at Senate Garage on Oct. 17

WHAT: Concert by the Steve Slagle Quartet

WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Senate Garage, 4 N. Front St., Kingston

DETAILS: Alto saxist Steve Slagle’s quartet features Lawrence Fields (piano), John Menegon (bass) and Jason Tiemann (drums). Slagle is a faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music and Berkeley College. he is also a clinician and performer. Fields is a New York-based pianist, composer and bandleader. Menegon started his career playing bass in Montreal. Tiemann is a New York City-based jazz drummer and is a freelance performer and educator. Tickets are $25 and are available online at www.jazzstock.com and at Rhino Records, 6 N. Front St., Kingston, up to the time of the concert.

Hudson Valley Bottle Club hosts fall open house

WHAT: Open house WHEN: Friday, Oct. 18, from 7 to 9 p.m.

WHERE: Marlboro Presbyteri­an Church, 51 Grand St., Marlboro

DETAILS: Bottle collectors, local history fans or people with the odd bottle shelf can stop by the Hudson Valley Bottle Club’s open house to learn about local bottles, the Hudson Valley glassprodu­cing industries and the bottle- collecting hobby. Club members will be present to give attendees free identifica­tion and appraisals of all kinds of bottles and glassware. Also present will be the club’s assortment of historical material dating back to 1973.
