KINGSTON STAYS UNBEATEN

Tigers improved to 10-0 on season with a 2-0 triumph over Rondout Valley

Kingston High’s field hockey team won the regular-season showdown with Rondout Valley on Thursday as the undefeated Tigers prevailed 2-0 in a tight Mid-Hudson Athletic League clash.

Hannah Timbrouck scored with 11:52 left in the first half to put Kingston, now 10-0 in league and overall, ahead. Rieley Fitzgerald delivered a big insurance goal midway through the second half.

Kingston outshot the Ganders 10-6, with Tiger goalkeeper Kara Houston making one save to post the shutout win.

Azure Jones made five saves for Rondout, which is now 9-2 overall and 7-2 in the MHAL.

“We worked really hard to make some adjustment­s and they worked really well,” Rondout coach Nanette Simione said. “With many players being lost to graduation, we have a new, young team that has worked really hard to progress. I am very proud of how well we played today.

Pine Plains 6, Webutuck 0

At Pine Plains, Jackie Povall scored twice, Bella Torre had a goal and two assists, Penelope Paldino added a goal and one assist, Keara Nielsen and Ashlee Conley also scored, and Sadie

Norman, Kaitlyn Weise and Autumn Prezzano all had assists to lead the Bombers.

Pine Plains/Rhinebeck improved its record to 7-4-2 overall and 6-2-1 league.

The Bombers had 36 shots to keep Warrior goalie Gabby Van Anden busy. She made 25 saves. Kai Mannino and Alyssa Bathrick combined for two saves as Pine Plains recorded its eighth shutout of the season.

Red Hook 9, Spackenkil­l 0

At Poughkeeps­ie, Danielle Walsh scored four goals, Kylie Kruschke had two, and Lauren Rhynders, Alette Van Dijk and Liu Christense­n each had one to lead Red Hook.

The Raiders peppered Spartans goalie Sabiha Hossain with 25 shots. Spackenkil­l achieved a season-high five shots on goal.

Taconic Hills 2, Onteora 1

At Boiceville, Amelia scored off an Kristin Shumsky assisr early in the first half and Tanner VanAlstyne tallied off Abigail Tkacy’s feed to start the second to carry Taconic Hills. Onteora (5-5-1, 4-41) cut the lead in half on Eva Leonard’s goal (Lola Mainieri assisting) with 12 minutes left, but the Eagles couldn’t get the equalizer in the closing minutes.

Sydney Kiernan had four saves for the Titans. Onteora keeper Alana Wood made seven saves.

Pine Bush 2, Ellenville 0

At Ellenville, Lauren Moccio scored twice off Melissa Torchio’s assists to lift Pine Bush to victory. The duo broke up a scoreless battle 1:55 into the second half then added a second goal barely three minutes later.

Abby Halpin made a pair of saves for the Lady Bushmen. Rorie Sangster and Lauren Franza combined for three saves for Ellenville.
