Movies with Spirit series to show ‘Wild Rose’

WHAT: Movies with Spirit screening WHEN: Saturday, Oct.19, at 7 p.m.

WHERE: Rondout Valley United Methodist Church, 25 Schoonmake­r Lane, Stone Ridge.

DETAILS: The musical drama “Wild Rose” tells the story of a working-class Scottish country singer wannabe who dreams of trading her lowwage life as a cleaning woman in Glasgow for Nashville. Fresh out of prison, singlemoth­er Rose-Lynn (played by Jessie Buckley) juggles her job and her two young children, who were cared for by her mother, Marion (Julie Walters), while she was incarcerat­ed. Marion despises her daughter’s irresponsi­ble lifestyle. The screening will be followed by a facilitate­d discussion. Attendees over age 12 are asked to contribute $10 per person.

Fundraiser for Boughton Place takes place Oct. 18

WHAT: Fundraiser for Boughton Place

WHEN: Friday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m.

WHERE: Boughton Place, 150 Kisor Road, Highland

DETAILS: Try on a role you’ve longed for or a role that seems different, interestin­g, or just plain fun. Psychodram­a gives people a chance to use good old-fashioned imaginatio­n and role-playing to try on new, different and imagined roles. The presenter is Regina Sewell, a certified psychodram­atist and licensed mental health counselor. She also teaches sociology at SUNY New Paltz and Dutchess Community College, as well as theatre therapy at Russell Sage College. The suggested donation is $10, $5 for students and those on a limited income.
