Two parolees arrested on drug, weapons charges
A man and woman on parole have been arrested on felony and misdemeanor drug and weapons charges following a raid on their village apartment, according to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
Members of the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT) and Ulster County Sheriff’s Office assisted authorities with the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision’s Office of Special Investigations with a “home check” at 110 Partition St., Apt. 3, late Friday night, Oct. 18, authorities said.
As law enforcement officers entered the residence, one of the suspects, James Giuditta, 26, of Saugerties, who is currently on parole, fled through a window onto the rooftop, according to the sheriff’s office. Giuditta tried to hide on the roof of an adjacent building but was taken into custody a short time later, authorities said.
A second occupant of the residence, Gina M. Julian, 25, of Saugerties, who is also currently on parole, was also detained.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, authorities found the pair in possession of a stolen, loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun; extra magazines and ammunition; 139 glassine envelopes or “decks” of fentanyllaced heroin; more than 13 pounds of marijuana; packaging material and scales.
Giuditta and Julian were each charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon and possession of marijuana, all felonies, along with criminally possessing drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
Both Giuditta and Julian were being held at the Ulster County Jail pending an appearance in Saugerties Village Court.
