‘20 Feet From Stardom’ is next Movies with Spirit screening
WHAT: “20 Feet From Stardom” WHEN: Saturday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m.
WHERE: New Progressive Baptist Church, 8 Hone St., Kingston
DETAILS: Documentary film “20 Feet From Stardom” looks into the lives of backup singers, who bring harmony to the biggest names in popular music but who the public largely has no idea. The backing vocalists the film profiles are Darlene Love, Merry Clayton, Lisa Fischer and Claudia Lennear. In the documentary, Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Stevie Wonder, Bette Midler, Sheryl Crow and other stars share their insights about the critical role backup singers play. The film features music from the 1960s to the present.

Catskill Mountain Foundation presents ‘The Nutcracker’

DETAILS: The Catskill Mountain Foundation, in cooperation with former Metropolitan Opera ballerina Victoria Rinaldi, Tonynominated choreographer Margo Sappington, and Eugene Petrov, Artistic Director of Petrov Ballet, presents the world’s favorite ballet, “The Nutcracker.” Advance tickets are $7, students; $20, seniors and $25, adults. Tickets at the door are $7, students, $25, seniors and $30 adults.
