Rondout during urban renewal focus of history program
Classes, workshops at Senior Computer Learning Center
The Senior Computer Learning Center, 94 Mary’s Ave., is offering the following classes and workshops in February:
• Monday, Feb. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. , Introduction to Windows 10 workshop. The cost is $30.
• Friday, Feb. 7, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Mail Merge workshop. The cost is $20.
• Monday, Feb. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Introduction to Facebook workshop. The cost is $30.
• Tuesday, Feb. 11, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. (fiveweek class), Picasa in Detail. The cost is $50.
• Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Google Suite I workshop, The cost is $20.
• Wednesday, Feb. 19, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Google Suite II workshop. The cost is $20.
• Thursday, Feb. 20, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., Google Suite III workshop. The cost is $20.
The Ulster County Office for the Aging will present a history program, “The Rondout during the Urban Renewal Period,” on Monday, Feb. 24, at 1 p.m. at the Ulster County Senior Hub, 5 Development Court.
The presentation will be made by Ulster County Historian Geoffrey Miller. Light refreshments will be served.

Senior groups list meeting schedules
The Woodstock Senior Citizens Club will meet Wednesday, Feb. 5, at noon at the Community Center, 56 Rock City Road.
The meeting will feature an auction.
The Southern Tier Senior will have their monthly meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the Monumental Lodge, 7 North Road.
Social time begins at 11 a.m., with the meeting starts at noon. There are plans to have a speaker from the Red Hook Fire Company talk about fire safety in the home. Membership dues for the year will be collected by Joy. Dessert cupcakes for Valentine’s Day will be provided by members whose last names begin with G through M. Games of “Deal or No Deal” are planned.
The first trip of the year will be to Saratoga Casino on April 14. Call JoAnn at (845) 756-2960 if interested.
All area seniors ages 50 and older from Columbia and Northern Dutchess counties and surrounding areas are welcome to join. Meetings take place on the first Wednesday each month at the lodge. In case of snow with school closings, the meeting will be canceled. Snow date is planned for the next day, providing the parking lot has been plowed.

The Olive Senior Citizens will meet Thursday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Building, Mountain Road.
The guest speaker will be Neil Smoller, a pharmacist and the owner of Woodstock Apothecary. Refreshments will follow.
The Retired Men of the New Paltz Community invite retired men everywhere to their monthly breakfast meeting on Monday, Feb. 3, at 8 a.m. at the New Paltz Plaza Diner, 271 Main St.
Gil Villahermosa, author of the book, “Rosendale: A History in Postcards and Photos,” will discuss the history of Rosendale.

Kendall Collins of Hurley, a student at Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C., was named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll for academics for the fall semester.
Collins, a senior defender on the college’s lacrosse team, was also selected to the First Team 2020 Inside Lacrosse NCAA Division II Preseason All-American team.
A 2016 Kingston High School graduate, he is the son of Jeramie and Kathleen Collins of Hurley.
••• Two area residents — Charley Nyzio of Stone Ridge and Mia Barbuto of Red Hook — were named to the dean’s high honors list at Connecticut College in New London for the fall semester.
Nyzio is a member of the Class of 2021 and is majoring in psychology and Italian studies. Barbuto is a member of the Class of 2020 and is majoring in film studies and theater.
Megan Cosgrove of Kinderhook was named to the dean’s honors list at Connecticut College for the fall

••• Two area residents — Sydney Bonewit and Shannon Bonewit, both of Port Ewen — were named to the dean’s list at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania for the fall semester.
Sydney Bonewit is majoring in communication sciences and disorders. Shannon Bonewit is majoring in early childhood education (prekindergarten through fourth grade).
••• Christopher Smith of Tillson was named to the dean’s list at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., for the first semester of the 201920 academic year.
A sophomore, he is majoring in environmental science.
He is the son of Lori and Don Smith of Tillson.
••• Three area residents — Natalie Rubin of Olivebridge, Kenadeed Gilmour of New Paltz and Alexander Chalk of Staatsburg — were named
to the dean’s list at Hamilton College in the Oneida County village of Clinton for the fall semester.
Students earn dean’s list status by achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
Rubin is a senior majoring in creative writing. She is a graduate of Onteora
High School. Gilmour is a senior majoring in government. He is a graduate of Kent School. Chalk is a senior majoring in biology. He is a graduate of Millbrook School. ••• Michelle McMann of Wallkill was named to the dean’s list at Clarion University of Pennsylvania for the fall semester.
