POSITIVE CASE CONFIRMED AT BARD
Bard College employee selfisolating at home, 4th positive case in Dutchess County
The Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community has confirmed a fourth positive case of the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 in Dutchess County.
The individual is an employee of Bard College and had interaction with faculty and students. The employee is currently self-isolating at home.
The Dutchess County Health Department, in coordination with the College, is reaching out directly to anyone who may have had direct contact with the employee. Those individuals are being asked to self-isolate and maintain contact with the health department.
Public buildings on campus will be closed for cleaning and sanitizing. All public events have been postponed or canceled and any students remaining on campus must limit social gatherings to no more than 20 people.
“Bard College will be doing outreach to those in contact with the individual and we will engage in monitoring protocol,” Dr. Anil Vaidian, Dutchess County Behavioral & Community Health Commissioner, said in a prepared statement.
“For most people, cases of Coronavirus will be mild and individuals will be able to rest and recover at home,” Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said in the same statement. “The actions I ordered yesterday [cancellation of community events and school closures] are to help slow the spread of coronavirus and decrease the impact to our community.”
Molinaro declared a state of emergency in Dutchess County due to the coronavirus on Friday, March 13.
