Live from New York, it’s not “Saturday Night.”

“Saturday Night Live” is officially the latest TV show to be delayed by the coronavirus pandemic, NBC confirmed Monday. The hit sketch comedy program, previously slated to return with new episodes on March 28, has halted production indefinitely out of concern for the safety of its cast and crew.

No new start date has been set, though the network said it will decide when to resume production based on careful monitoring of the fast-developing situation.

Actor-director John Krasinski and singer Dua Lipa were set to be featured next on “SNL” as host and musical guest, respectively. “A Quiet Place Part II,” the film Krasinski was supposed to promote, has also pushed its release because of the outbreak.

Idris Elba says he has coronavirus: ‘no symptoms so far’

Idris Elba says he has tested positive for the coronavirus. The actor tweeted Monday that he has no symptoms so far and has been isolated since Friday when he found out about his possible exposure.

Elba is the latest high profile celebrity to have tested positive for the virus. Last week, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson said they had also tested positively in Australia.

Elba in a video message said that his wife has not been tested yet but is feeling OK.

“This is serious. Now’s really the time to think about social distancing, washing your hands,” Elba said. “We live in a divided world right now. We can all feel it. But now’s the time for solidarity, for thinking about each other.”

Cinemas close; new releases to be available for home viewing

On Tuesday, Fox Theatres announced that Fox Berkshire in Wyomissing was closed until further notice, following Gov. Tom Wolf’s request that all non-essential businesses in Pennsylvania close.

Any customer who purchased advance tickets online will be contacted by the theater for a refund. Customers who bought tickets in person should call and leave a message for a refund at the theater box office: 610-374-1279. More information can be found at www.foxshowtimes.com.

U.S. movie theater chains nationwide, including AMC, RC and Regal, shut down after President Donald Trump announced new guidelines urging against gatherings of more than 10 people because of the coronavirus pandemic. With big screens going dark, Hollywood moved to rush some new releases onto home entertainment platforms.

Universal Pictures on Monday said it will make its current and upcoming films available for on-demand rental, becoming the first major studio to turn directly to home viewing in light of the virus.

The studio said it will put movies currently in theaters — “Invisible Man,” “The Hunt,” “Emma” — up for rental beginning as early as Friday. It also said that “Trolls World Tour,” one of the only major releases left on the April film release calendar, will debut in theaters and on-demand services simultaneously. A 48-hour rental will cost $19.99.
