More coronavirus news.
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. » Dutchess County now has an online dashboard that shows countywide and town-by-town totals of confirmed coronavirus cases.
The “Dutchess County COVID-19 Community Impact Dashboard,” at bit. ly/2yoMqRM, also has information about testing, hospitalizations, deaths and recoveries, as well as 911 and hotline call volumes. It’s similar to the dashboard Ulster County launched last week, at bit.ly/3ajOys8.
In announcing the launch of the new online resource, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said in a prepared statement Tuesday that with substantially expanded testing for the virus, the county now has quantitative, reliable data that can be presented to residents in a clear, easyto-access manner.
“This localized data helps our public health and emergency response personnel, municipal partners, businesses and residents fully understand the scope of this virus’s growing impact on our community,” Molinaro said.
The executive had been reluctant to release information about municipalities in which positive cases of the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, were confirmed. But he said Tuesday that the dashboard shows that every town in the county has been affected.
According to the map, at noon Tuesday, there were fewer than five confirmed cases of the coronavirus in each of the Nothern Dutchess towns of Red Hook, Rhinebeck, Pine Plains, Milan and Clinton.
Hyde Park had 14.
The city of Poughkeepsie had the highest number of confirmed cases in the county, with 50.
Molinaro cautioned that the numbers reflected only those cases in which an individual tested positive for the virus.
“There are many more individuals who are asymptomatic or who have mild symptoms who have not been confirmed,” he said. “It is critical to realize that every person in Dutchess remains at risk of exposure and every person must make it their personal responsibility to do their part to ensure they are not adding to these numbers. So while we know it is hard, stay the course; stay home, stay safe, and stop the spread.”
In addition to providing a town-by-town breakdown of cases, the Dutchess County dashboard provides information about the number of positive cases in the county since the first ones were identified, as well as the numbers of active cases, hospitalizations, deaths, recoveries and tests administered.
As of noon Tuesday, the dashboard showed 2,381 tests had been administered and there were 386 active cases of the virus in the county.
Since Dutchess’ first case was reported, according to the dashboard, there have been 396 confirmed cases of the virus, including 56 hospitalizations. Four Dutchess County residents have died from the virus, and nine have recovered.
The Dutchess dashboard will be updated daily, though there might be delays in updates for particular data sets as information is received and verified.
