HURLEY, N.Y. » An early morning argument led to the arrest of three men at the intersection of Hurley Mountain Road and Wynkoop Place, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

One of the three is accused of pointing a shotgun at another person during the dispute.

In response to a 911 call about 1:45 a.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office said, deputies investigated the complaint and arrested John L. Zehnick III, 33, of Kingston; Johnathan A. Temple, 18, of Sawkill; and Ross R. Jones Jr., 38, of Glenerie.

The defendants allegedly were involved in a dispute at a residence on Shady Drive in Hurley, and related incidents in Olive and Marbletown, according to a Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

The Sheriff’s Office said Temple’s vehicle left the Shady Drive residence, followed by one resident in another vehicle to a second location, where the dispute continued. At one point, Jones is alleged to have pointed a shotgun at another person, the Sheriff’s Office said.

After fleeing the second location in Temple’s vehicle, the three were stopped by state troopers, who discovered property in the vehicle that belonged to one of the alleged victims, as well as a shotgun, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Zehnick, Temple and Jones all were charged with the misdemeanor of possession of stolen property. Zehnick and Jones also were charged with misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a weapon because of prior convictions, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Jones additionally was charged with the misdemeanors of menacing and criminal possession of a controlled substance because a small amount of cocaine was found in his possession at the time of arrest, the Sheriff’s Office said.

All three were arraigned in the Town of Ulster Court and released with appearance tickets for the courts in Olive, Hurley and Marbletown. Also, orders of protection were issued on behalf of the alleged victims.

Sheriff’s deputies also were assisted by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection Police.
