Rhinebeck Jewish Center schedules High Holidays services

The Rhinebeck Jewish Center, 102 Montgomery St., will be open for the High Holidays, with all services taking place in a spacious outdoor tent, maintainin­g strict social distancing and in full compliance with Centers for Disease Control guidelines.

The schedule for services is as follows:

• Friday, Sept. 18, Rosh Hashanah Eve, candles will be lit at 6:41 p.m., wth services at 6:45 p.m. Dinner will follow the services. Seating is limited to maintain social distancing between families, so RSVPs are required. Call (8450 876-7666 or send an email to RSVP@RhinebeckJ­ewishCente­r.com to reserve a spot. Suggested donation is $36 per adult, $25 per child.

• Saturday, Sept. 19, Rosh Hashanah (Day One), morning services at 9:30 a.m., children’s services at 10:30 a.m. and sermon at 11 a.m. Candles will be lit at 7:39 p.m., with services at 7:30 p.m.

• Sunday, Sept. 20, Rosh Hashanah (Day Two), morning services at 9:30 a.m., children’s services at 10:30 a.m. and shofar at 11:45 a.m. Tashlich service at 5:30 p.m. at American Legion Park, Mill Street.

• Sunday, Sept. 27, Yom Kippur Eve, Kol Nidrei service at 6:30 p.m.

• Monday, Sept. 28, Yom Kippur, morning service at 10 a.m., youth service at 11 a.m. and Yizkor memorial service at 3 p.m. Torah study with Rabbi Hanoch Hecht at 3 p.m., Mincha at 5 p.m. and Ne’ilah at 6 p.m. Shofar sounding, followed by evening sere with prepackage­d break-fast at 7:25 p.m.

Chabad of New Paltz, 10 South Oakwood Terrace, will host a special short service this Rosh Hashanah.

Tashlich and shofar will take place Sunday, Sept. 20, at the scenic overlook by the bridge at Main and Huguenot streets. It will include the highlights of the Rosh Hashanah service.

In addtion, full-length, in-person outdoor services for Rosh Hashanah will take place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19, from 8 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19 and 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

People can also come for just the shofar blowing at Chabad if they wish. That will take place Sunday, Sept. 20, at noon.
