DOROTHY HELEN FLEMING DEVOLL
HILLSDALE, N.Y.- Dorothy Helen Fleming DeVoll, 71, of Hillsdale died Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, in her sleep from natural causes. She was born in Astoria Queens on May 1, 1949 and relocated with her family to Rosendale in 1959. She was a homemaker and took care of her children and loved ones. Dorothy was a daughter of the late James Fleming, Sr., and Dorothy H. Knickrihm Fleming. She was a member of the Hillsdale Fire Co. and a volunteer at Our Lady of Hope Church in Hillsdale. Dorothy is survived by her children, John DeVoll, Jr., Michael DeVoll, Melissa DeVoll (Alexander), and Jennifer Rose DeVoll; a brother, James J. Fleming, Jr., (Doris) of Rosendale; and a sister Carol Santosky of Georgia. Also survived by grandchildren, Jonathan DeVoll, Miranda DeVoll, Anthony Palmucci, Nick Alexander, Ava DeVoll, Ramya Shepard, Rasheed Shepard, Jr.; her long time companion, Robert Briggs; and former husband, John E. DeVoll, Sr. She will be dearly missed by her family and lots of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved. She was predeceased by her sisters, Patricia Fleming and Jeannie Fleming Laik. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, at St. Peter’s Church in Rosendale. Rev. Edmund Burke will ofciate. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Rosendale. George J. Moylan Funeral Home Inc., Rosendale, is assisting the family with arrangements.
