-

ACCORD– Richard H. Countryman, 86, of Accord passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2021 at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Fla., surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 27, 1934 in Accord, N.Y., and was the son of Floyd and Florence (Ford) Countryman. In his younger years he worked for William Anderson Feed Company in Accord, N.Y. After a few years he then started his own chicken business with Hy-Line Chick Corporation out of Doylestown, PA., growing his business to six leased chicken coops and over 250K chickens a year. At the age of 40 he started his own business, Richard Countryman Construction in Accord, N.Y. He was a lifetime member of both the Rochester Reformed Church in Accord and the Accord Fire Company where he held many positions including Fire Commissioner of the District. He had previously served as an elected Town Assessor and Town Councilman as well. He never met a stranger he didn’t know which was evident by the long-lasting friendships he made wherever he went, whether it be at the clubhouse, Boynton Beach Inlet, or throughout the community. He always had a friendly smile and would wave to everyone who drove by while he was outside. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved farming and raised chickens and pigs for many years. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed growing fresh vegetables for his family and friends. His homes in New York and Florida were always surrounded by the beautiful ower gardens that he created and his homes always reected his care and eye for beauty. In 1970 he married the love of his life, Gail (Paes) Countryman and in July they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Together they raised ve children, Mark Countryman (Cathy) of LaPine, Ore.; Steffanie Countryman (Brett) of Prescott, Ariz.; Stacey Countryman Robertson (Danny) of Prescott, Ariz.; Michelle Countryman Keuning (Robert) of Saugerties, N.Y.; and Lisa Countryman Ferro of Lake Katrine, N.Y. He leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Jeanna Gutierrez, Tamara Countryman, Monica Countryman, Richard Countryman, Christine Crider, Erik Anderson, Nicole Keuning, Anthony Ferro, Kobe Ferro, GMSA Joseph Ferro and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Roxby and Carol DiVita, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat Simon. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his eldest grandchild, Benjamin Paul Kiernan; brothers Gary, Floyd, Ronald; and sister, Barbara Binney. His family meant the world to him and he was the world to his family. He was the best husband, father and grandfather and he was truly cherished and loved. He will be greatly missed. We were so lucky to have him in our lives. A memorial service will be held at a later date due to the current COVID - 19 pandemic restrictions. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Rochester Reformed Church, 5142 US Highway 209, Accord, N.Y., 12404 or to the Accord Fire Company P.O. Box 205, Accord, N.Y., 12404. Fly high…we will see you on the other side. The great reunion has begun.
