Still, they remain high. Ulster on Wednesday reported 1,878 active cases of COVID-19, down 25 from 1,903 cases reported on Tuesday.
The Ulster total is still sharply higher than its recent low of 1,488, reached on March 1, but also below its peak of 2,622, set on Jan. 30.
Ulster also said Tuesday that the COVID-19 death rate remained the same at 243.
Ulster County reported Tuesday that 73 of its residents were diagnosed with COVID-19 among the most recent 1,353 to be tested, a positivity rate of 5.4%.

it has had 13,081 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 10,960 recoveries since March 2020.
According to the state COVID-19 vaccine tracker, 34..4% of Ulster residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine. The tracker says that 30, 213 have completed with vaccination series and 61,4961 have gotten at least one shot.
Dutchess County said Wednesday that its active
COVID-19 cases slightly decreased from 1,433 reported on Tuesday to 1,405, down by 28.
Dutchess has been experiencing a weekslong rise in its number of active COVID-19 cases. The number peaked at 2,576 on Jan. 16 and then fell to 713 by Feb. 15 before starting a steady increase.
Meanwhile, Dutchess also reported Wednesday that there were no additional deaths, with the total remaining at 425 since the pandemic began in March 2020.
The county also said Tuesday that 59 residents were hospitalized with COVID-19, down by three from the day before.
Dutchess has had 25,893 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the local outbreak began. Its latest seven-day average of positive test results is 4.54%.
The vaccine tracker says 31.2% of Dutchess County residents have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. It says that 46,726 people have completed the vaccination process while 91,729 people have got at least one dose.
