Active cases in Dutchess fall for second straight day
For the second day in a row, Dutchess County saw its number of active COVID-19 cases drop.
According to its online dashboard on Sunday, Dutchess County had 1,330 active cases of COVID-19, a decrease of 59 from the 1,389 reported the day before. The data reflected information available as of Friday, April 2.
Ulster County had not updated its online dashboard as of 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Dutchess County reported no new deaths from the coronavirus, leaving the total number of people in the county who have died from COVID-19 at 426 since the local start of the pandemic in March 2020. The county also reported that 70 residents were hospitalized with the coronavirus, a decrease of 1 from what was reported the prior day.
The county has had 26,450 confirmed cases of the coronavirus since the outset of the pandemic, according to its dashboard. Its seven-day rolling positivity rate was 4.29 percent, down slightly from the 4.39 percent previously reported.
As of Sunday, 55,867 Dutchess County residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while 100,933, or 34.4 percent of the population, have received one dose of the vaccine, according to the New York state COVID-19 vaccine tracker.
In Ulster, 39,664 county residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while 68,492, or 38.3 percent of the population, have received one dose of the vaccine, according to the state tracker.
