Kingston girls end season with tie, victory
Kingston High closed out its girls tennis season with a tie and a triumph.
The Tigers won their season finale Wednesday, defeating Pine Bush 4-3. Darkness stopped their match at Washingtonville on Tuesday and it was declared a 3-3 tie on Wednesday.
Lila Freeman, Elizabeth Madonna and Aliyah Faircloth won their singles matches against Pine Bush. Keira Holsapple and Camryn Fisher rallied to win their first doubles match in a third-set 10-game pro-set 10-6 to secure the team win.
The match with Washingtonville was deadlocked at 3-3 when darkness stopped play, with Madonna leading 6-4, 4-2 and serving at 15-15 against Ella Doeck at third singles. It will not be resumed.
Freeman led the Tigers in that match, beating Jalynn Balleste 6-3, 6-4. Freeman was 9-0 on the season, never losing a set.
Kingston finished the season 7-2-1 overall.
