High school announces top students in Class of 2021
HIGHLAND, N.Y. » Stephanie Klein has been named valedictorian of the Highland High School Class of 2021, and Dana Georghiou has been named salutatorian.
Klein, daughter of Cynthia and Robert Klein of Highland, earned a grade average of 102.9. She is president of the school’s National Honor Society chapter and a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She also participates in Science Olympiad, Mathletes, Model UN and the Interact Club, and she is president of the Art Club.
Klein earned an AP Scholar with Honor distinction from the College Board’s National Hispanic Recognition Program, and she will receive an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and Mastery in math and science from New York state.
Locally, she established a chapter of PERIOD, a women’s charity for menstrual equity, and serves as the chapter’s president.
Klein plans to attend New York University, with a Merit Scholarship, and has been accepted into the college’s accelerated dental program.
Georghiou, daughter of John and Heather Georghiou of Highland, earned a grade average of 101.8. She is a member of the National Honor Society and participates in student government, the Interact Club, the Multicultural Club, and Mathletes. She was named an AP Scholar by the College Board and will earn an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and Mastery in science from the state.
During her sophomore year, Georghiou achieved academic excellence in Regents Chemistry and College Algebra, and scored the highest average in Algebra II.
Georghiou will attend SUNY New Paltz, where she will major in accounting.
