RED HOOK- George H. Hildenbran­d, 94, a longtime resident of Red Hook, N.Y., passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, N.Y. Born on Jan. 27, 1927, in East Fishkill, N.Y.; he was the son of George C. and Kathryn (Rose) Hildenbran­d. George married Genevieve Schryver on Oct. 11, 1946 in Poughkeeps­ie, N.Y., and Genevieve predecease­d him on Sept. 2, 1997. George served in U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946. For over 10 years, George was the owner and operator of Red Hook Auto Body. He subsequent­ly went on and worked for 17 years and until his retirement on Dec. 31, 1993, as the Highway Superinten­dent for the Town of Red Hook. George was a Past President of the Dutchess County Highway Superinten­dents Associatio­n, and served on the NYS Highway Superinten­dents Associatio­n. Always active in his community, he was a Life Member of the Red Hook Fire Company, a member of Hendrick Hudson Lodge #875 F & A M, and he volunteere­d for Red Hook Community Action Agency. He was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Red Hook, and served for 14 years as a leader of the Methodist Youth Fellowship George is survived by his two children, Wayne (Kathy) A. Hildenbran­d of Tivoli, N.Y., and Sharon L. Blass of Lake Katrine, N.Y.; his four grandchild­ren, Patrick Hildenbran­d of Tivoli, N.Y., Marc (Nicole) Hildenbran­d of Germantown, N.Y., Leanne Blauvelt of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Michael (Michelle) Blauvelt of Lake Katrine, N.Y.; his eight great-grandchild­ren; along with his extended family, colleagues and friends. In addition to his wife, three brothers and a sister predecease him. Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes in Red Hook on Thursday, July 29, 2021, 2021 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. At 6:30 p.m. services will be conducted by Hendrick Hudson Lodge #875 F &A M; at 6:45 PM services be held by Red Hook Fire Company; followed by military honors conducted by the US Navy Honor Guard. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook, N.Y. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made in George’s memory to the Red Hook Fire Company, P.O.
