MARY ANN DIPIETRO
Mary Ann DiPietro died after an acute illness on October 2, 2022 in the presence of family at Health Alliance Hospital, Kingston NY. She was born December 4, 1938 in Port Jervis, NY daughter of the late Edwin Schill and Lucy (Chant) Schill. She wed Francis (Frank) DiPietro, also of Port Jervis, on October 5, 1958. They once again can celebrate their anniversary together. Frank predeceased Mary Ann on January 1, 2006. Together they had five children: Deborah DiPietro, Anthony DiPietro, Susan Hamilton (Mark Giles), Karen Burgher (Gerard), and Mary Jane DiPietro. She is survived by her children and her brother William Schill of Sparrowbush NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jennifer Shultis (Jeremy), Matthew McGinnis, Laura Burgher, Amy Hamilton, Emily Deyo (Spencer), Katie Hamilton, Sara DiPietro, Joshua Chiera (Kelli Orologio), Jeremy Chiera, as well as great-grandchildren: Gia Orologio, Evan Chiera, and Ava McGinnis. She also leaves behind extended family and caring friends. Her greatest enjoyment in life came from doting on her children and grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply and was always ready to help in any way. A remarkable homemaking engineer and once a master of caring for five children all under the age of six, Mary Ann began her work-life outside of the home when all her children were school age. She enjoyed working and created many long-lasting friendships along the way. After years of in various vocations, her last roles were with several government agencies. She worked in offices with Congressman Maurice Hinchey and then Assemblyman Kevin Cahill. Before retiring in 2017, she was presented with the YWCA Women in Government Award. Mary Ann was an avid crafter and gardener. She also stayed active by volunteering her time when she could. She helped at the Fairly New Thrift Shop at the Fair Street Church. This suited her well as she could hardly turn down a good bargain. Mary Ann and Frank loved family vacations on Cape Cod. Traveling with five young children was no easy undertaking and along with the accoutrements of a beach vacation, Mary Ann planned, prepared, and served up family meals for the entire week. She continued to enjoy the Cape each summer and over time each vacation was different, depending on who joined. Her last trip was in 2019 with her daughter Mary Jane, her constant companion and care-giver for over a decade, and accompanied by her granddaughter Jennifer and her husband Jeremy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401 where family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 between the hours of 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm with a service beginning at 7:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the Hurley Cemetery in Hurley NY.
