• The Bloomingto­n Fire Department is conducting a toy drive. Donations are being collected at the firehouse at 14 Taylor St., Bloomingto­n, on Monday, Nov. 21, from 3 to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4, from 10a.m. to 4p.m. Monetary donations may be mailed to Commitment to Kids, P.O. • The Holiday Sale at the Hurley Heritage Society, 52 Main St., Hurley, will take place Saturday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale will feature a variety of holiday items, collectibl­es, furniture, jewelry and new gifts. The sale will be set up in all the downstairs rooms of the museum and on the porch. The museum shop will also be having sales on selected items. Proceeds from the sale help fund the maintenanc­e of the museum and fund programs throughout the year.

• Sam’s Point Educator Becca Howe-Parisio will discuss how animals make it through the harsh, cold winter months during a talk Saturday, Dec. 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Cragsmoor Free Library, 355 Cragsmoor Road, Cragsmoor. Discover what these critters do to survive, be it hibernatio­n, hunkering down or staying active. Participan­ts will also learn how to look for signs of animals in winter during a short walk around the library and make plaster animal tracks to take home with them. • Rhinebeck Reformed Church, 6368 Mill St., Rhinebeck, will have its annual cookie walk sale on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Cordes Hall. There will be more than 40 kinds of homemade holiday cookies. Cookies can be purchased for $11 per pound.

• St. James United Methodist Church, 29Pearl St., Kingston, will host its Star in the Valley Christmas Market and Cookie Caper on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Homemade Christmas cookies, crafts and refreshmen­ts will be available for purchase. • The Town of Esopus will have its Winter Wonderland Parade on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 5:30 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the parade will take place Dec. 4. Floats with lights and decoration­s and participan­ts are needed. Examples include decorated floats, unique cars and trucks, organizati­ons, businesses, fire department­s, ambulances and horses. • Performing Arts of Woodstock’s production of Rhinebeck playwright Richard Nelson’s “That Hopey Changey Thing” continues at the Mescal Hornbeck Community Center at 56Rock City Road in Woodstock Fridays and Saturdays, at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. through Nov. 27. • The Kingston Model Railroad Club’s annual open house continues Saturdays and Sundays, from noon to 5 p.m. through

Dec. 4. This complete O-scale railroad features modern and vintage scale models of steam and diesel locomotive­s passing through scenery modeled after the Hudson Valley. Also view trolleys, a circus train and Thomas the Tank engine. Tickets are $6 for adults and $2 for children under 12.

• The Clinton Historical Society will have its annual Holiday Craft and Gift Fair on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Creek Meeting House, 2433 Salt Point Turnpike, Clinton Corners.
