Joan Carole Botta Fauci of Saugerties, NY has been called home by God on November 26, 2022. Joan died at Vassar Brothers hospital after a brief illness of liver cancer. She was born on July 17, 1939 to George and Dorothy (Shaw) Botta in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Brooklyn in 1957. Also in 1957, she met her husband, Frank, at a church bazaar, and they were married on August 19, 1961. Together they raised six children. In 1978, they moved upstate for a better, safer life. Joan worked for St. John’s Roman Catholic church for over15 years, and also worked for J.C. Penney in Kingston, NY for 18 years. She enjoyed sewing & crocheting, and helping anyone in need. She was a devout Catholic, serving God & Jesus all her life, serving the church and spreading the word of God. She was a congregant, Eucharisti­c minister and lector at St. John’s Church in West Hurley, NY, and at St. Mary’s of the Snow Church in Saugerties, NY. She was a member of the Rosary Society at church, visited nursing homes in the area to bring the Sacrament of the Eucharist to the residents. She was also a member of the Columbiett­es of Saugerties, an organizati­on of Catholic women dedicated to Our Blessed Mother Mary, an auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are her husband, Frank, six children: Dorothy Fauci (TJ), George (Donna) of Arizona, Dominic (Bella) of Florida, Theresa Fauci (Michael) of California, Anna Mosier (Phil) of Arizona and Anthony (Nicole) of Saugerties, six grandchild­ren: Stephen Fauci, Dominic Fauci, Paulie (Bianca) Carcaramo, Michael Dell, Tevell Brown and Angelina Fauci, three great-grandchild­ren: Malachi and Zachariah Brown, and Sarina Carcaramo, a sister, Mary (Joe) Salmonese, and a brother, George Botticelli, and many nieces and nephews. She is predecease­d by her parents, and a sister, Theresa Ortenzi. Her Funeral Procession will form Monday 9:45am at the Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home Inc., corner of John and Lafayette Sts., Saugerties. Procession will continue to St. John’s RC Church, Woodstock where an 11am Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Burial will follow in the Ashokan Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Joan’s Tribute Book will be organized with expression­s of condolence and photos shared by family and friends at SeamonWils­eyFuneralH­ome.com
