SAUGERTIES…..Richard C. Emerick, 75, of Sterley Ave. died Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Kingston City Hospital. Born December 14, 1946 in Troy, he was the son of the late Charles Peter and Hilda Smith Emerick. A lifetime area resident, he was a graduate of Saugerties High School Class of 1965 and entered the US Air Force in June of that year. He served in Korea during the Vietnam Era receiving his honorable discharge in December of 1968. He was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and began his career in food service,working at various restaurant­s and then at the Kingston Hospital where he was employed for over 30 years as the Food Production Manager. In his spare time Rich had many interests including fishing, golfing, and gardening. He also enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida. His greatest joy was entertaini­ng family and friends where he could always be counted on to put out a large buffet. Survivors include his wife, the former Marlene Ferraro, two daughters: Kristen and her husband, Jeff Funk of Southbury, CT., and Kelli and her husband, Pete Kniss of Clifton Park. a brother, Thomas (Miriam) Emerick of Arkansas, and four grandchild­ren: Jackson, Jonah, Cameron, and Kathryn. He is also survived by many wonderful friends that he considered family. His Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Friday at the Seamon Wilsey Funeral Home, Inc. corner of John & Lafayette Streets, Saugerties. Interment will follow in the Ulster County Veteran’s Cemetery, New Paltz, NY. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The family would like to thank all the nurses on Broadway three of Kingston Hospital and the Ulster County Hospice. Contributi­ons may be made to the Ulster County Division of Hospice.
