• SUNY Ulster’s annual Winter Concert Series returns with concerts in the Quimby Theater in Vanderlyn Hall at the college’s Stone Ridge Campus, at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30 and Dec, 8. The Nov. 30concert, directed by Vic Izo features holiday favorites like “Let it Snow,” “Silent Night” and “Bleak Midwinter.” The Dec. 8concert features the College Chorus directed by Janet Gehres and a Mixed Instrument Ensemble directed and arranged by Greg Dinger and the Honors Recital Winners. This performanc­e is themed around music around the world and includes “Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy,” “Gavotte en Rondeau” and “Cantate Domino.” Donations are greatly appreciate­d. • Poets Penelope Hyde Levine and Matthew J. Spireng will appear in a spoken word poetry reading and performanc­e Thursday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universali­st Congregati­on of the Catskills at 320 Sawkill Road, in the town of Ulster. Tickets are $5. Masks are required.

• The Movies with Spirit series will screen the drama “Merry Christmas,” on Saturday, Dec 17, at 7 p.m. at the Rondout Valley United Methodist Church, 25 Schoonmake­r Lane, Stone Ridge. The film chronicles the true story of an unofficial­ly declared truce by opposing soldiers in World War I on Christmas Eve 1914.

The film is rated PG—13. Attendees over age 12are asked to contribute $10 a person.

• The United Reformed Church at 9 Church St., Bloomingto­n, is hosting its Christmas Bazaar, jewelry and bake sale on Friday,

Dec. 2, from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• The Immanuel Lutheran Church at 22 Livingston

St., Kingston, is hosting its Christmas Handcrafte­d and Gift Boutique Friday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 3, from noon to 4 p.m. Browse Handmade jewelry, glass, baskets, quilled cards, ornaments, gifts, collectibl­es, and more. Free gift wrapping will be available for all items purchased. Entrance is at the lower parking area, masks are required when indoors.

• The Kiwanis Club of Kingston will present its annual senior holiday dinner on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Pointe of Praise Church, 253Hurley Ave., Kingston. There will be seatings at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The menu will feature a full turkey dinner with stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable and dessert. There will also be door prizes and music. • The Ruby Fire Department will host a “Santa Run” event beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3. Members of the department will join Santa and his elves to hand out candy canes throughout the community. Listen for the sirens and horns to know when Santa is nearby.

• The Clinton Historical Society will have its annual Holiday Craft and Gift Fair on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the

Creek Meeting House, 2433 Salt Point Turnpike, Clinton Corners. Local crafters will be selling their items. The society will be selling holiday decoration­s along with homemade baked goods. There will also be homemade soup for lunch, to eat in or take out. Proceeds from the sale go to support their mission.

• Elizaville United Methodist Church, 740county Route 2, Elizaville, will have a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church hall. In the event of inclement weather, the event will take place Dec. 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a large variety of decoration­s, gifts, crafts, wrapping paper, toys, curios, and more. There will also be a baked goods table that will include cheesecake­s. Breakfast and lunch will be available, with soups, sandwiches, pasta to go, and dessert items. • Kingston Maennercho­r and Damenchor Hall, 37 Greenkill Ave., Kingston, will host Christkind­lmarkt, A German Holiday Market on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be chocolates, frozen lamb chops, goat milk, soaps and lotions, jewelry, homemade crafts and more. • Sam’s Point Educator Becca Howe-Parisio will discuss how animals make it through the harsh, cold winter months during a talk Saturday, Dec. 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Cragsmoor Free Library, 355Cragsmo­or Road, Cragsmoor. Discover what these critters do to survive, be it hibernatio­n, hunkering down or staying active. Participan­ts will also learn how to look for signs of animals in winter during a short walk around the library and make plaster animal tracks to take home with them. • The Town of Esopus will have its Winter Wonderland Parade on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 5:30 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the parade will take place Dec. 4. Floats with lights and decoration­s and participan­ts are needed. Examples include decorated floats, unique cars and trucks, organizati­ons, businesses, fire department­s, ambulances and horses. • The YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County will host its 34th annual Reindeer Ramble 5K holiday road race/walk on Sunday, Dec.

4. Proceeds will benefit the YMCA Strong Kids Scholarshi­p Fund. The event starts at 11:30 a.m. from the YMCA at 507 Broadway rain, snow or shine. • The Friends of the Saugerties Public Library hosts the Festival of Trees on Sunday, Dec. 4, from noon to 4 p.m. All are invited to decorate a tree for the event. • Holiday in the Village returns to the village of Saugerties on Sunday,

Dec. 4, from noon to 6 p.m. Visit Santa at the Kiersted House, stop by the Festival of Trees at the Saugerties Library or visit a craft fair and market and holiday activities at the Saugerties Boys & Girls Club from noon to 4 p.m. Free traditiona­l horse-drawn wagons will depart from the Village Firehouse from 1-3 p.m. Toy raffles will be at 1, 2:30, and 4p.m. A community tree and menorah lighting at the Reis parking lot and a traditiona­l fireman’s parade through the village are scheduled for 5 p.m. with the presentati­on of trophies for fire trucks at 5:30p.m. The festivitie­s then conclude with a tree lighting at Seamon Park and a reading of “The Night Before Christmas.”

• The Kingston Model Railroad Club’s annual open house continues Saturdays and Sundays, from noon to 5 p.m. through Dec. 4. This complete O-scale railroad features modern and vintage scale models of steam and diesel locomotive­s passing through scenery modeled after the Hudson Valley. Also view trolleys, a circus train and Thomas the Tank engine. Tickets are $6 for adults and $2 for children under 12.

• Historic Red Hook’s annual benefit auction will take place online. • Made in Kingston returns with a new home at the YMCA of Kingston and Ulster County at 507 Broadway Thursday, Dec. 8, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dozens of artists and makers will showcase an eclectic range of items right in time for the holiday gift-giving season. Admission is free.

• The High Falls Fire Department hosts its annual holiday food and toy drive Sunday, Dec. 11, from 1-4 p.m. at the High Falls Firehouse at 1 Firehouse Road, High Falls. The event will feature pictures with Santa, hot cocoa or hot coffee and fresh baked cookies. Participan­ts are asked to donate a new unwrapped toy. Donations of hams, turkeys and all trimmings, canned goods, dry goods, juices, personal health and beauty items, baby food and diapers will be collected Gift cards for older teens and monetary donations will also be accepted.
