Phoenicia- Keith W. Holmquist, 68, of Lane St died Tuesday, November 29, 2022 after a battle with cancer. He was born in Kingston on May 28, 1954 son of the late John and Helen Hansen Holmquist. He was a graduate of KHS, and later attended NYU to study podiatry. Keith was the business owner of The Pro Ski and Ride in Hunter for over 30 years. He was a very well respected boot fitter who was sought out by many. He was a member of America’s Best Boot Fitters, BootDoc. as well as the EWSRA. Keith was a talented musician who played bass guitar with his friend Mario in The Ugly Van Band and later with Alana in Wyld Blue. He was often booked up well in advance, and enjoyed both entertaini­ng and emceeing many local events. Keith was a long time member, and a two time Past President of the Phoenicia Rotary Club, and a member of the Paul Harris Fellows. He played dozens of times at the Rotary $100 Night at Paul’s Pavilion, and was host of the Rotary Duck Race for years. He continued to serve his community as a member of the Shandaken Planning Board, and the Ulster County Planning Board. Keith was kind, generous, and had a wonderful network of friends. Surviving are his life partner Anita Ayers, son Giovanni and his wife Morgan Holmquist, brother Lance Holmquist, sister Sharon Hamlin, close cousins: Kurt and Eric Hansen, the supportive Pro Ski & Ride Family, and his beloved puppy Mattie. A Service to Celebrate the Life of Keith will be held on Monday December 5, 2022 at 4pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia.
