Michael A. Gaddis, 62, of Schultz Lane, Port Ewen, NY, died Monday, January 2nd, 2023, while in the comforting presence of his family at Vassar Brothers Medical Center following a battle with lung cancer. He was born in Kingston, NY on October 6, 1960, a son of the late Donald and Josepha (Olberding) Gaddis. A graduate of Kingston High School, Michael was employed as a master electricia­n with Local 363. During most of his career, he was employed as an electricia­n with Whitman Electric in Kingston, and then for Olympic Electric until the time of his cancer diagnosis. Michael was an outdoorsma­n who enjoyed camping, and four-wheeling with family and friends, and going to car races with his buddy Chuckie Markle. He spent many weekends volunteeri­ng at Kingston Point BMX, and traveling across the country to cheer on his children at various BMX races. He also enjoyed hanging-out in Steven’s garage with friends. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary (Williams) Gaddis, his children, Michael D. Gaddis of Port Ewen, Kayla (Chris) Shane of NC, one sister, Donna (Dale) Whitman of Ocean View, DE, one brother, Joseph (Cheryl) Gaddis of Saugerties, four grandchild­ren, Miley, Macklan, Madelyn Gaddis, and Landon Shane, brother-in-law, Jimmy (Kathy) Williams of Kingston, and sister-in-law, Cathy Kershaw of Bolton Landing, NY. Nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends also survive. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to their sister-in-law, Cheryl Gaddis, who went above and beyond to help Michael with all of his medical needs. Friends and family will be received at the Gilpatric-VanVliet Funeral Home, 339 Broadway, Ulster Park, on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a service at 4:00 pm. Cremation will then follow privately at Wiltwyck Crematory.
