Kingston girls finish first in slalom

MONTICELLO, N.Y. >> The Kingston High School girls team captured first place in its Section 9 Division 1 slalom race at Holiday Mountain Ski & Fun Park on Wednesday.

Mackenzie Martin led the Tigers with a fourthplac­e finish. Also contributi­ng to the team victory for Kingston were Liliana Roglieri (ninth), Ava Gardner (10th) and Melia Weyand (11th).

Onteora skiers also competed but the Eagles did not have a team score. Rylan Reynolds’ second-place finish led Onteora, which also got a fifth-place showing from Nadou Louis. Teammates Jillian Tyler and Coco Asada were 12th and 13th, respective­ly.

The Kingston boys team came in third. Monticello took first place, followed by the combined Tri-Valley/ Fallsburg/Liberty squad.

Daniel Muniz Diaz led the Tigers with a seventh-place finish. Teammate Reid Dumas was ninth, followed by Martin Mathew in 17th and Chase Roglieri in 19th. Also for Kingston, James Dekoskie was 20th, Brody Norton was 24th and Ace Littell was 26th.

The Onteora boys team finished fifth. Waylon Brown’s third-place finish was tops for the Eagles. Teammate Milo Brown was 13th, followed by Luca Makowski in 22nd and Damian Foley in 25th.

In giant slalom competitio­n at Belleyare Mountain in Highmount on Tuesday, the Onteora girls team took first place in both the morning and afternoon runs.

Reynolds led the Eagles in the morning run with a second-place finish. Louis was sixth, Tyler was eighth, and Asada was 11th.

In the afternoon run, Reynolds again led Onteora with a second-place showing. Louis followed by coming in fifth. Tyler was seventh and Asada was 11th.

Kingston did not compile a team score in the morning run. Martin recorded a fourth-place finish in the morning run to lead the Tigers. Roglieri was 10th and Gardner was 13th.

Kingston was third in the team standings for the afternoon run. Martin again led the Tigers with a thirdplace showing. Roglieri was 10th, Gardner was 12th and Weyand was 15th.

The Kingston boys recorded a first-place showing in the afternoon run and a second-place finish in the morning run.

Dumas was third in the morning run to lead the Tigers, who finished second to Monticello. Muniz Diaz was ninth, Martin was 11th, Dekoskie was 14th and Roglieri was 15th, Norton was 24th, and Joseph Leiching was 25th.

In the afternoon race, Dumas was tops for the Tigers with a second-place showing. Muniz Diaz was ninth, Martin was 11th, DeKoskie was 14th and Leiching was 23rd.

Onteora recorded thirdplace finishes in both races. Brown’s eighth-place finish in the morning run led the Eagles. Milo Turba was 12th for Onteora, which also got a 19th-place finish from Makowski. Also for the Eagles, Archie Popp was 22nd and Damian Foley was 23rd.

Brown again led Onteora in the afternoon run, finishing third. Turba was 12th, Makowski was 19th, Popp was 21st and Foley was 22nd.
