Chamber to pick Honorary Irish Person of the Year
KINGSTON, N.Y. >> The Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce will name its Honorary Irish Person 54th annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration breakfast on Friday, March 15, from 7:30-9 a.m. at the Best Western Plus on Washington Avenue.
Last year’s honoree, Ulste County Clerk Nina Postupack, said in a prepared statement that “As someone who was born and raised here, the mystery surrounding who would be chosen as Honorary Irish Person was always one of the highlights of St. Patrick’s Day.”
“The individual was always a person who was involved, who cared and worked for the betterment of our community. As all the previous honorees would march into the room, I would feel a sense of pride that we live in an area where people truly care about their community.”
While she is proud of her Italian roots, Postupuack said she considers the Honorary Irish title as one of her most endearing awards, she said in the release.
“The best part is that I was Irish for the whole day. I thoroughly enjoyed it as St. Patrick’s Day is one of my favorite holidays throughout the year,” she said.
The T. McCann Band and the Ulster County Ancient Order of Hibernians Pipe and Drum Band will provide entertainment
Tickets are $30 in advance for Chamber members and $40 for non-members. Advancement payment is required for this breakfast.

Editor’s note: This story was amended to correct that Postupack was 2023’s Irish Person of the Year, not this year’s honoree.
