Central Hudson electricit­y supply costs will increase a penny in March

Electricit­y supply costs for Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. will rise for the third month in a row in March by just over a penny, according to the utility.

Effective Tuesday, March 12, electricit­y supply prices will increase to 12.01 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) from 11.03 cents it was in February, Central Hudson spokesman Joseph Jenkins said Monday.

In January, the electricit­y supply price was 8 cents per kWh. It was 6.4 cents in December; 6.6 cents in October; 9.1 cents in September; 9.3 cents in August; 7.2 cents in July; 7.3 cents in June; 10.6 cents in May; 12.6 cents in April; and 13.7 cents in March 2023, according to the utility.

Meanwhile, gas supply costs for Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. dropped in March after staying flat for two months in a row, according to the utility.

Gas supply prices in March decreased to 40.3 cents per hundred cubic feet (ccf), down from 43.8 cents in February, which was the same price in January.

March’s gas price is dramatical­ly lower than it was in the same month last year when it was 89.3 cents per ccf.

The February and January supply price rate was down 4.5 cents from 48.3 cents per ccf in December, the utility reported.

In November, the cost was 43.5 cents, up from 37.8 cents per ccf in October, according to Central Hudson.

Gas supply prices were at 40.6 cents per ccf in September; 43.7 cents in August; 49.3 cents in July; 57.9 cents in June; 70.7 cents in May; 76.8 cents in April; and 89.3 cents in March 2023, according to the utility.
