PHOENIXVILLE » Ghosts, princess and superheroes walked Bridge Street last Saturday as a part of the borough’s Halloween parade.

“I would like to thank the Phoenixville Recreation Department and board, council, High School Theatre Guild, Technical College and High School (Pickering Campus), participants, and local businesses for a wonderful Halloween Parade,” Councilwoman Dana Dugan said.

She and the borough’s recreation board put together this year’s Halloween parade.

“It was a beautiful day, where kids could catch candy, and then, thanks to Communities That Care, see a great movie, ‘E.T., the Extra Terrestrial,’” Dugan continued. “Working together, we showed everyone ‘The Spirit of Phoenixville.’”

It was the first time the parade has been held during the afternoon, Dugan said, so that children could “better enjoy” it.

They also made sure to add a theme, which Dugan hopes will continue each year. This year’;s theme was science fiction.

“I can’t wait to see what next year’s theme will be,” she said.

More traditional pieces of the parade also got their due, including a business decorating contest and Pumpkinhead leading the parade.

The Phoenixville Smoke Shop won first place for the business decorating contest with the top three being rounded out by Angelo’s Carpet Cleaning (second place) and PJ Ryan’s Pub (third).
