Turnpike crash snarls traffic

1 sent to hospital after 4 vehicles collide

EAST WHITELAND » A crash in the westbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike at the Malvern slip ramp sent one person to the hospital Friday afternoon.

The crash involved two trucks and two cars. It occurred about 3 p.m. and had traffic backed up to the Valley Forge interchange as firefighters from Paoli Fire Com- pany extinguished a fire that destroyed one of the cars.

The injured person was transported to Paoli Hospital by an ambulance from the fire company. The condition of the victim was not known Friday afternoon, nor were details of the crash immediately available.

Traffic remained snarled during the evening rush hour period, according to reports.

Berwyn Fire Company Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
