Turnpike crash snarls traffic

1 sent to hospital after 4 vehicles collide

EAST WHITELAND » A crash in the westbound lanes of the Pennsylvan­ia Turnpike at the Malvern slip ramp sent one person to the hospital Friday afternoon.

The crash involved two trucks and two cars. It occurred about 3 p.m. and had traffic backed up to the Valley Forge interchang­e as firefighte­rs from Paoli Fire Com- pany extinguish­ed a fire that destroyed one of the cars.

The injured person was transporte­d to Paoli Hospital by an ambulance from the fire company. The condition of the victim was not known Friday afternoon, nor were details of the crash immediatel­y available.

Traffic remained snarled during the evening rush hour period, according to reports.

Berwyn Fire Company Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
