6th Cal football player arrested in beating

CALIFORNIA, PA. » A sixth football player from a state university has been arrested in a beating outside an offcampus restaurant that left a West Chester man with severe brain trauma.

Police say 20-year-old Shelby Wilkerson of Harrisburg, a freshman linebacker at California University of Pennsylvania, turned him- self in Saturday. University spokeswoman Christine Kindl says he was immediately suspended.

Online court documents don’t list an attorney for Wilkerson.

Interim president Geraldine Jones called the additional arrest “disheartening news” but said “everyone involved in this incident should be held accountable for their actions.”
