Bobbye Farris Sylva
1935-2014
Bobbye Farris Sylva, 79, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at St. Leonard Health and Rehabilitation Center after a short battle with lung cancer.
She was born Jan. 1, 1935, in Buchanan, Tenn., to the late Henry and Rosalie Farris, and graduated Scott High School, Coatesville, Pa. in 1953.
Bobbye married in 1956, moving to New York and Florida before settling in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she took bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public education from the University of Cincinnati.
Her career was spent with the Northwest Local School District in Cincinnati, first teaching high school English, later becoming a high school librarian, and also as a library coordinator for the district’s 14 schools.
Retiring in 1998, she was lucky to travel through the world and through our beautiful national parks. She moved in 2008 to Centerville to be near her son Ron.
She is survived by her son, Ron of Bellbrook, Ohio; her sister, Sue Gerry Priddy of Lancaster County, Pa.; her sister, Wanda Villibrandt of Boynton Beach, Fla.; brothers, James Farris and Warren Farris of southeastern Pennsylvania; and by her numerous lovely nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania and Florida.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Routsong Funeral Home, 81 N. Main St., Centerville, Ohio.
Family will greet friends for a reception following the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Dayton, and the Health and Rehab Center of St. Leonard for all their care and compassion.
