Malvern Prep finishes third in Eastern Prep Championsh­ips

Magnus Sims earned AllTournam­ent Team honors as the Malvern Prep boys water polo team earned a third place finish in the Eastern Prep Water Polo Championsh­ips Sunday evening.

Sims finished with six goals in the Friars’ 11-4 victory over the Hill School in the third-place game. Pete Calvaresi had four goals in the win.

Pat Coffey had 14 saves to earn the win in goal.

Malvern Prep fell 6-5 to Loyala in the semifinals earlier in the day. Calvaresi had four goals while Sims finished with two.

The Friars finished the season with a 22-6 record.

CONNECTICU­T 115, WEST CHESTER 26 >> Moriah Jefferson led six Huskies’ players in double figures with 19 points for the champs as they rolled over the Golden Rams in an exibition game Sunday. All five UCoon starters scored in double figures.

Serifat Junaid led the Golden Rams with six points and Portia Speller had five points and two assists.

UConn forced 24 turnovers and limited West Chester to just 15.8 percent shooting.

West Chester opens its season on November 14 when the Golden Rams host the Carol Eckman Classic.
