Ronald G. Weir of New Holland

Ronald G. Weir, 65, of New Holland, died unexpected­ly on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014 at a hunting camp in Juniata County.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Malvin G. and Blanche E. (Wenger) Weir. He was married 42 years on Feb. 19 to Beverly (Stoltzfus) Weir.

Ronald retired after 28 years as Chief of Police for the West Fallowfiel­d Township. He also retired in 2009 after 32 years as a machinist at Tyson Foods in New Holland.

Ronald was a member of the Skerrett Masonic Lodge #343 in Cochranvil­le and also a member of the Civil War Reenactors Cavalry 11th PA Company B. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworkin­g.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Jamie, married to Lisa (Jones) Weir of East Earl, Edward Weir of New Holland, Kristen, married to Matthew Madgy of Las Vegas, Nev, and Jonathan Weir of New Holland; four grandchild­ren, Corey, Sarah, Zoe, and Kyla; a brother, Gene, married to Linda (Angerman) Weir of New Holland; and a sister, Peggy Ann, married to John R. Geiter, Jr. of Narvon.

Preceding him in death is a daughter, Candace Nicole Weir.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with the Reverend Ray Voran officiatin­g. Interment will be in the Zeltenreic­h Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. A masonic service will be held on Monday at 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
