BLAZE DESTROYS HOME OF FIRE POLICEMAN
A house fire early Wednesday morning turned out to be the home of a member of the Honey Brook Fire Company.
Officials said the fire occurred at the home in the 600 block of Churchtown Road, Salisbury Township, Lancaster County, around 1 a.m. The home is owned by Rick Hallman, a fire policeman with the volunteer fire company.

Fire Chief Robert Klinger Jr. said his fire company was dispatched to the house fire and upon arrival found heavy smoke coming from the residence. Five additional tankers also responded, as the rural area between Honey Brook and Narvon is not serviced by fire hydrants.
Upon arrival of the first engines, flames were shooting out the front of the home. Firefighters deployed handlines to the front and rear sections of the home and began fighting the fire.
Klinger said Hallman was in his kitchen when he noticed smoke and flames coming from the front bedroom. Hallman attempted to extinguish the fire and suffered minor burns to his forearm, according to investigators.
Other fire companies assisting Honey Brook firefight- ers on the scene were Glen Moore, East Brandywine and Twin Valley, as well as Elverson-Honey Brook EMS. Units responding from Lancaster County were Weaver-land Valley, Carnarvon, and Garden Spot Fire Rescue and Salisbury Township Fire and Ambulance.
The cause of the fire appeared to be accidental and the Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal was on the scene trying to determine its origin.
