Red Raiders take first in Ches-Mont track

Coatesvill­e’s girls track and field team took first place in the Ches-Mont League Championsh­ips on Wednesday afternoon with a score of 144.50.

For the Red Raiders, Aniyah Burton took first in the 100-meters and the long jump. Jolesha Boulware won the 300-hurdles. Naya Wright claimed first in the 200 and Brooke Hutton won the 3200.

For other teams, Avon Grove’s McKenna Keegan won the 400 and 800 and Jess Simkins won the pole vault. Downingtow­n West’s Aislinn Devlin won the 1600. Oxford’s Katie Dodson won the 110-hurdles. Downingtow­n East’s Evelyn Berecz won the triple jump. Great Valley won the 4x100 relay and 4x-400 relay. West Chester Henderson’s 4x800 relay claimed first. Unionville’s Jane Peabody won the high jump, and Sam Pancoast won the javelin. Bishop Shanahan’s Chloee Klespies won the discus and shot put. CENTRAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSH­IPS » The Pioneers’ Elise Odell and Dominique Shultz each had secondplac­e finishes. Odell reocred a 33-4 in the triple jump and Shultz finished the 1600 in 5:14.78.

Boys Track

CHES-MONT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSH­IPS » Coatesvill­e’s boys team won the meet with a score of 137.50.

First-place finishers for the Red Raiders included, Jay Stocker in the long jump and triple, and Dondre Pittman in the high jump.

For other schools, Downingtow­n East’s Dan Chisena won the 100 and 200. Mitchell Gill won the 400 and their 4x100 and 4x400 relays took first. West Chester East’s Eric Diestelow won the 1600 and 3200, and Cole Baldyga won the javelin. West Chester Henderson’s Winston He won the discus. Downingtow­n West’s Josh Hoey won the 800 and Josh McLemore won the 110-hurdles.Union-ville’s Jermemy Do won the 300-hurdles. Kennett’s Andrew Luebbe won the pole vault. Bishop Shanahan’s 4x800 relay finished in first and Joey Queppet won the shot put. CENTRAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSH­IPS » The Pioneers had four first-place finishers on the afternoon. Andrew Marston took first place in the 1600-meters with a time of 4:16.43. Nate McLachlan won the 300-hurdles in 40.05. Andrew Diehl won the high jump with a leap of 6-0, and Martin Dorsey won the long jump with a measuremen­t of 20-8.

WEST CHESTER EAST 3, COATESVILL­E 2, 9 INNINGS » The Vikings (15-3, 15-3) Steph Batog scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the Ches-Mont League National Division contest. Olivia Rodgers earned the win inside the circle. The senior threw a complete game. The only hit she gave up was a home run to Brianna White.

The Red Raiders (10-8 league) receivied strong pitching from Laura Henry and Alexis Lichtner. Combined the two only gave up five hits. UNIONVILLE 3, KENNETT 2 » Austin Langerhans picked up the win inside the circle. She allowed five hits, and struck out four. The Indians (10-8, 10-8) were paced offensivel­y by Carly Nance who went 3-for-3 with one RBI

Mya Bonifacino batted 2-for-3 for the Blue Demons (10-8, 10-8). DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 7, WEST CHESTERHEN­DERSON 0» The Cougars’ (10-8, 108) Paige Warfel, Paige Willenbroc­k, Bridget Nordberg, and Olivia Guidone all batted 2-for-3 in the Ches-Mont National shutout.

3, 5 INNINGS » Morgan Orlowski had four RBIs and earned the win in the circle to lead the Patriots (106, 10-7). Allison Miller was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 9, SUN VALLEY 3 » Andrew Coleman went 3-for-5 for the Golden Knights (14-4 league) with one RBI and three runs scored to earn the Ches-Mont American victory. Charlie Concannon hit a triple and home run en route to five RBIs. WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 5, DOWNINGTOW­N EAST 4» Brady Bash was able to get out of a bases-.load, noouts jam in the bottom of the seventh inning to power the Warriors (8-11, 8-11) in Ches-Mont National action. OXFORD 5, BISHOP SHANAHAN 0 » Joe Boggs threw a complete-game shutout for the Hornets (7-11). He struck out four, allowed four hits, and only walked one in the Ches-Mont win.

CENTRAL4» The Friars (235) picked up the nonleague victroy thanks to Parker Abate’s bases-clearing triple in the sixth inning.

WESTTOWN 8, ACADEMY OF

THE NEW CHURCH 6 » The Moose (7-3, 9-5) won the Friends League contest behind Colin Perkins-Taylor who went 2-for-3. Jon Moldoff earned the win, throwing six innings and allowing one run.

COATESVILL­E 6, WEST CHES

TER EAST 2 » The Red Raiders’ (8-10, 8-11) Jorge Rodriguez had the games only extra base hit. his double helped pace them to the Ches-Mont National win.

Shane Springer was 2-for-3 for the Vikings (11-7 league).

GARNET VALLEY 4, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 3 » The Golden Knights’ (10-7) senior Ryan Fincher led the team in second singles in their final match of the season.

Girls Lacrosse

SANFORD 16, WESTTOWN 5 » The Moose (3-10) were defeated in their final game of the season. Maddie Barth, Sarah Cassway, Samantha Pavlov, Jane Mentzinger, and Emily Dodds all scored.

Adult Softball

TRI-COUNTY SENIOR MODIFEID » Allstate knocked off Road Scholar Transport 3-2. Allstate’s Dave Gordon went 2-for-3 with a triple. Don Mullen went 2-for2, and Marty Hornberger picked up the win inside the circle. Road Scholar Transport was paced by Chris Sanchez, Ruben Torrez, and Rick Lasac who all batted 2-for-3.

Adult Baseball

SPRING RUN BREWERS 2, RAMCON MASONS 1 » Kevin Massey tossed a three hitter to power the Brewers (1-0-1) to the Coatesvill­e Adult League game. Massey walked four and struck out eight. Andre Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
