Benchmark FCU was thrilled to be able to celebrate with its customers two great things: International Credit Union Day and the 75th anniversary of the credit union.

“We have been in the Chester County community for 75 years,” said Rebecca Worthington, marketing director for Benchmark. “We’re very excited that we’re now a community and anybody who lives, works, worships or attends school in Chester County is eligible for membership.”

Unlike just any other bank, credit unions are actually owned by its members.

“You’re not just a member of the credit union, you’re an owner because we don’t have stock holders,” Worthington said. “Membership with a credit union means once you’re a member, you’re always a member.”

To become a part of Benchmark, all you need is just $5.

Those $5 allows you to open a savings account, which then gives you the availability of everything Benchmark has to offer.

Now, Benchmark has even more to offer its members after teaming up with a bank out of Texas.

“We are offering a rewards checking platform to our members and that was rolled out in June,” Worthington said.

To celebrate, Benchmark brought out a Kasasa Rewards truck to give people the opportunity to go in a whirlwind chamber and catch rewards.

“Kasasa is a rewards checking that actually pays you back for doing every day, basic banking transactions by giving you rewards,” Worthington said. “There is no fee, and no mini-

mum balance.”

Kasasa Rewards offers three options: Kasasa Cash Back, which gives a percentage of debit transactions back each month up to $10; Kasasa Cash, where people earn 2 percent interest in their checking account up to $10,000; or Kasasa Tunes, where people receive $5 rewards on iTunes, Amazon or Google.

Benchmark has been getting the word out through its celebration Thursday, at the Mushroom Festival and the Strawberry Festival.

“We’re finding a lot of people are excited to have another financial option within the community,” Worthington said. “We pride ourselves for being around for 75 years and in a strong, financial standing. One of the nice things is we actually do offer financial solutions for all benchmarks — from birth to retirement, we can be your one-stop financial partner.”
