Two men were shot and killed Saturday night, according to the Chester County District Attorney’s office.

DA Tom Hogan said the two victims were shot about 7 p.m. and their bodies were found in a car parked in the first block of Nichols Road. Police responded to a 9-1-1 call for shots fired and found the victims in the car in front of the home of a relative of one of the men.

The area of Nichols Road and Glencrest Road was being heavily patrolled by police well into the night Saturday. It wasn’t immediately known if suspects were in custody or if suspects were being sought. The shootings were being investigated by the Valley and Coatesville police departments as well as the Chester County detectives.

Hogan declined to identify the victims but social media sites were buzzing Saturday night with wishes of condolences for the family of one of

the men.

Clayton Woodward was identified as one of the victims; sources indicated that Woodward was indeed one of the victims shot.

Friends and relatives posted messages of prayers for the family and others remembered Woodward in the neighborhood.

One cousin of the victim posted on Facebook that the Woodward was “a good father and a good man in general.”

“I remember growing up on Oak chasing after him his brother and my brother,” said Genayah Marshall. “Our family is close. We may go awhile without seeing each other but the love is always strong.

“He took care of his family. His kids and his woman were his world. We all have fallen short in some way, shape, or form; but nobody deserves to lose their life in front of their mother’s house.”

Marshall said she was home at the time of the shooting.

“I was home. I was in my room putting my 9-monthold daughter to sleep when I saw lights and sirens going past my window,” she added. “I wished the family good luck not knowing it was my family who was hurt. But I heard it happened in front of his mother’s house. This world is getting worse by the millisecond and I only pray it gets better.”

After going more than three years without a homicide, the Coatesville area has seen three shooting-related deaths in two weeks.

Earlier this month a Coatesville man became the city’s first homicide. Police said Juan Antonio Jiminez was shot on Oct. 3 around 2 a.m. at 123 Fourth Avenue in Coatesville.

Hogan said the homicide of Jiminez was the first for the city in three years.

The Coatesville Police Department and Chester County Detectives are investigating that homicide as well.
