Years ago, a reader, Sheila, wrote to me and told me a story that I’ve never forgotten. In her letter, Sheila recounted a time in her life when she and her husband were on vacation in Ocean City, Maryland. It was quite a windy day as they pulled their vehicle into a parking spot on the island. Not only was it very windy, but it was rather chilly. However, this did not keep the couple from investigating the exquisite beach that was hidden by the sand dunes.

Sheila wrote, “I started on the pathway, over the dunes, about 200 yards. At the top of the dunes, I stopped. It was a magnificent beach setting. The winds were very strong as I continued to walk down the steep hill, toward the water.”

Then, Sheila explained in her letter that she reached into her jacket pocket. She had forgotten that she had previously placed two $5 bills in her pocket. As she reached in, out fell the bills, and the money blew away with the wind.

Sheila continued, “I began running after the bills. Finally, one was close enough for me to reach with my foot, but the other one blew away in the high winds. It blew so far it disappeared from sight. I decided that was the end of it, not to worry about it. My husband and I laughed as we walked back to the car.”

The next day, Sheila and her husband decided to back to the beach again to collect some interesting shells. As they walked along the beach, it was a truly beautiful day. And she noticed the wind was blowing in the opposite direction. Later, as they were walking to the car, lo and behold, there at the top of the dunes, was the $5 bill sitting on top of driftwood and seaweed!

Moved to tears, Sheila wrote, “In another second, the bill would have blown away. Now, I had it in my hand. I stood still, amazed. It isn’t the money I am in awe about — I truly feel God was saying to me, ‘See how close I am to you. Yes, I am right here.’”

Are you worried about the future? Has it been one challenge after the other? Maybe you’ve made mistakes, some bad decisions and had countless letdowns. And now, you wonder, “When are my problems going to be solved?” Today, God is tapping you on the shoulder and saying, “I am still here with you… Yes, I am right here.”

God has you in his mighty hand. So, “Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually.” (1 Chronicles 16:11) Relax and trust Him. For God is in the business of miracles.

• Perhaps, your heart’s dream is not happening on your timetable. Keep that joyful expectation for your future. God is in the business of miracles. For soon, He is going to connect you with the right people, and things will fall into place. “It is God at work within you giving the will and the power to achieve His purpose.” (Philippians 2:13).

• Possibly, you’ve missed some opportunities in the past. Don’t let a setback crush your hope for a comeback. God is in the business of miracles. He is working now to restore to you more than you lost. “This very day I am declaring that I will restore double to you.” (Zechariah 9:12).

• You might be struggling with a difficult situation. You have come too far to walk away and quit now. God is in the business of miracles. Circumstances are about to change in your favor. “Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in good time for every need.” (Hebrews 4: 16).

• Or else, an unforeseen circumstance might have caused you to be terribly disappointed. Pray for God’s help and guidance. God is in the business of miracles. Suddenly, God will answer your prayers according to His wisdom and will, and he’ll make things up to you. “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” (Jeremiah 33:3).

Keep praying; keep hop- ing; and give God time to do his mighty handiwork. Last month, while traveling on a business trip in Georgia, I heard a news story on a local television station about a Chihuahua from Texas who had gone missing. The dog’s owners were moving furniture out of their home, and their five pound Chihuahua slipped out the door.

Frantically, the owners searched the neighborhood. They couldn’t find the dog. Then, they put up flyers in the community, posted messages on Facebook, and called animal shelters. The dog was nowhere to be found. After months of searching for their dog, the owners started to give up hope. “But we were still praying about it, though,” added the owner.

The situation looked hopeless. But God is in the business of miracles.

Five months later and more than 800 miles from where the little dog was first lost, a volunteer from the humane society found the missing dog in Atlanta. The volunteer tracked the dog down with his microchip. And a day later, the dog was reunited with its owner. “I was just in tears crying I was so happy,” the owner stated. “Thank God,” the couple said ecstatically.

God’s plan for your life is arranged out down to the very second. There are no coincidences between God and his children.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28).

Keep being and doing your best. Live out to the fullest this wonderful life that God has given to you. When we count our many blessings, and share his love with others, we’ll joyfully say, “Look what he did for me… look at God’s timing.”

God is in the business of miracles. They happen every day. And a miracle is on its way to you.
