AREA ACADEMIC TEAMS WILL COMPETE TO REPRESENT CHESTER COUNTY AT A STATE ACADEMIC COMPETITION
Three varsity and three junior varsity academic teams will compete Monday for the Chester County Academic Competition championship.
The six teams had advanced from the semifinals round of the academic competition. The championship will take place on Monday, April 4 at 7 p.m. at the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) at 455 Boot Road. The competition will determine which varsity team will represent Chester County at the state competition.
The Union ville High School, West Chester Henderson High School and Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School academic teams have all secured a spot in the varsity academic competition championship. Three junior varsity teams participating in the championship are
Great Valley High School, Unionville High School and West Chester East High School.
The competition began in October 2014 with 24 Chester County high schools teams contesting against one another in a “college-bowl” format where students answered a variety of questions. The subject areas include literature, math, science, American and world history, geography and contemporary events.
The Chester County Academic competition, now in its 32nd year, is coordinated by CCIU and sponsored by Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union.
The Pennsylvania Academic Competition will take place at the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and the Senate in Harrisburg on April 29. Downingtown East will also compete as the state’s reigning champion.
