Mary A. Downey of West Chester

Mary A. Downey, 89, of West Chester, Pa., died Saturday April 9, 2016, at her home.

She was the wife of the late Edward J Downey.

Born Aug. 1, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of Owen and Mary Mulroy.

Mary graduated from Misericordia Nursing School and continued her career in nursing until the age of 75.

Coming from Springfield, Mary moved into Hershey’s Mill in 1989. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Church and was very devoted to her faith. After her husband’s death she traveled the world visiting countless cities and countries.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jean Stretton for the wonderful care that she gave to their mother.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Kathy Downey, Linda Nicholson, her husband David and son Kevin Downey.

Relatives and Friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, April 14, from 10 to 11 a.m., at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 1325 Boot Rd. West Chester, PA 19380; followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Interment will be held in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery & Garden Mausoleum Springfield PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to SS. Peter & Paul Church at the above address.
