Patricia (Pat) Thompson, formerly of West Chester
Patricia (Pat) Diane Thompson (nee Fleming), 86, of Washington Township, NJ, formerly of West Chester, PA passed away at home on Thursday, April 28, 2016.
Born on July 29, 1929 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Patricia was a 1947 Graduate of Eau Claire High School. She married Lyman H. Thompson on September 17, 1949. They lived in many different cities and states where Lyman served as pastor for The Congregational Church and The United Church of Christ, settling in West Chester, PA for 40 years and finally moving in with her Daughter’s family in Sewell, NJ in 2009.
Patricia worked at West Chester University for more than 25 years as an Office Assistant in the Career Center and Office Manager in the Registrar’s Office, retiring in 1995.
She and her husband enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, hosting parties, gardening, and reading. When serving as caregiver during her husband’s cancer treatments in 2009, she began enthusiastically participating in classes and activities at Kennedy Cancer Center where she became a fixture and discovered her artistic talents. Most importantly she enjoyed time with friends and family right up to the end.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 67 years, Lyman H. Thompson; Children, Dr. Jeffrey Thompson (Deanna), Jennifer Boggs (James), Jamieson Thompson (Jyl), Jiselle Knauss (Frank); nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents Clarence and Cora Fleming; her siblings Luora Fawcett (Raymond), Gordon Fleming (Virginia) and Eileen Krigsvold (Bernard).
Her final gift was as an anatomical donor to the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Arrangements are pending for a memorial celebration with close friends and family upon the return of her remains.
