West Chester U. golfers start well at LeMoyne

Taylor Daskivich shot a 4-over round of 76 to lead the Golden Rams in the first round of the LeMoyne Invitation­al.

Taylor Daskivich led the West Chester University women’s golf team to a strong opening round at the LeMoyne Invitation­al in Jamesville, N.Y. Daskivich sits in second place overall after shooting a 4-over round of 76, and the Golden Rams are third in the 11-team field.

WCU shot a combined score of 326 on Sunday, placing the Rams one stroke behind host LeMoyne, with everyone chasing Gannon after a stellar 307.

Lacey Bensing shot an 80 on Sunday and is tied for seventh overall. Angela Masseria shot an 84 in her first college tournament. Kate Clark signed for an 86 while Casey Monaghan carded a 94.

Round two is today in New York.

Men’s Golf

PSU-HARRISBURG INVITATION­AL >> Immaculata started the 2016-17 season with an opening round of 331 at the Penn State Harrisburg Invitation­al at Dauphin Highlands. Immaculata stands in 11th place after the first round.

Anthony Spatacco carded the low round for the Mighty Macs with a 79, while Jay Spatacco signed for an 82. Also making their Immaculata debuts were Stephen McEntee with a round of 84 and Patrick Zeoli with an 86.

Gettysburg is leading the field with an opening round 292, while Farmingdal­e State and Muhlenberg are tied for second with rounds of 302.

Boys Soccer

LA SALLE 3, MALVERN PREP >> The Friars’ Jake Hodlofski made eight saves, but it wasn’t enough to conquer the powerful Explorers in a game played at The Hill School in Pottstown. Nate Albergo and Cullen Pena led the Malvern Prep effort in the loss.
